Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time once again for you to join Dusty Stax and The Bold Italic to celebrate the changing of the seasons at San Francisco’s Verdi Club! With spring newly sprung, join us on Saturday, March 23rd for our Hollywood Babylon Dance.
For our theme this time, we’re taking a cue from the 1965 (banned) book Hollywood Babylon, a sordid account of the scandals and glamour of early Hollywood. Ladies, there can only be one Black Dahlia and only one Jane Mansfield, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pay homage to the infamous and tragic trailblazers of American style. Gentleman, it’s time to slick that hair, shave that beard, starch that collar, and don your neatest, most impeccable suits (heck, rent a tux) and show ‘em what you’ve got. We’ll have the full red carpet treatment so you can make your grand entrance to what will prove to be another famously memorable night.
The music, as always, will be brought to you by the fantastic 11-piece Gold Star Soul Revue live band, our famous Golden Girls, and stellar soul DJs. We are pleased to welcome Quinn DeVeaux and Sub Pop recording artist Kelley Stoltz back to our stage, where they will share their epic showmanship, velvet voices, and impeccable style. The incomparable Spencer Owen comes back to our stage as well to wow you and thrill you, and our smooth master of soul, Justin Frahm returns to woo the ladies as well. As always, our Golden Girls will win your hearts and break them all over again with each classic song they sing.
Included in admission price is a delicious springtime cocktail courtesy of our good friends at Casa Herradura tequila. Their sustainably run distillery is the second oldest, established in 1870, so they know their way around cocktails.
We'll be joined once again by our friendly ace photographer, Gabriel Wheeler, to capture everyone in their gorgeous glory in our famous photo booth.
Dress Code: No denim will be permitted. For fellas: ties and collars are a must, and leave those sneakers in the gym bag. Ladies: you know what to do.
Everybody: Don't stress about finding a date, show up stag or with friends. It’s springtime and it’ll be on, just don't forget your dancing shoes.
21 and over dance all night!
Bonus ticket: The All in a Night Package, which includes two dance tickets, an overnight stay for two at the Clift Hotel, transportation to the Clift provided by Uber, late night snacks and drinks upon check-in and a continental breakfast for $200.
