Spirited Conversations: Local Economies and Sustainability in Mezcal with Del Maguey, Tosba, and Mezcalistas

SEE EVENT DETAILS
This latest installment of Spirited Conversations is a deep dive into the question of how sustainable mezcal can be for local economies in Mexico. Taste while you join the conversation with Del Maguey, Tosba, and Mezcalistas at the Mission's Loló 6-8PM, Wednesday, May 17th.
Much of the conversation about sustainability to date has focused on the agricultural practices and production process in making mezcal. Those are critical issues but equally important are the questions of how to make sure that distillers are paid fairly and how to ensure that communities share in the proceeds.
Join Misty Kalkofen, Del Maguey Mezcal's Madrina and point person for sustainability issues, Elisandro Gonzalez, co-founder of Tosba Mezcal, and Mezcalistas as we explore these complex issues and impacts on the local economies in Mexico.
Of course no conversation would be complete without the opportunity to taste some mezcals and snack on treats from the Loló kitchen. Program begins at 6pm and runs till 8. Bring your questions and be prepared to taste and engage with the conversation!
