Spirit Raising: Making Infused Spirits, Bitters and Juice Concentrates with Fieldworks Collaborative

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Fieldworks Collaborative is proud to announce the launching of Tribute, a new project that honors everyday visionaries and activists working on critical environmental and food justice fronts in the Bay Area.
In the spirit of the Tribute project, we invite you to participate in a workshop on Saturday, Oct 20th that explores the making of infused spirits, bitters and non-alcoholic citrus-based juice concentrate syrups, that pay tribute to Bay Area visionaries and activists. Ingredients we use will come from fruits, herbs and other edibles harvested in the greater Bay Area and from the backyards and neighborhoods of our honorees.
 What we will provide:

Share our process and thinking on the ideas of infusing edibles from our local landscape and introduce the Tribute Series project
Have on hand ingredients and tools to learn from and play with
Snacks and tastes of some of the Fieldworks Collection edibles
How-to instructions will be given out during the workshop
Each participant will go home with a bottle of their own inventions and leave a bottle for the house to be premiered at our Dec 9th Chit-Chat and tasting at the Growlery

 What you might bring:

We welcome any fruits, vegetable or spices from your own yards you want to bring to use
Recipes and stories from your family or cultural heritage you might want to share with others
Notebook and pen or pencil

Some of our Tribute honorees will be in attendance at this workshop - please come to meet and make with them too!
Process Information:
Beyond this Oct 20th workshop, our concoctions will have to soak for a month. At the end of our workshop, we will display our bottles of infused ingredients on the shelves of the kitchen at the Growlery.
PART 2 of this workshop will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, November 18th, when we will decant our soaking brews, name them, bottle them and create story cards for each of our new concoctions!
Please hold Sunday, December 9th on your calendars for a Fieldworks Chit-Chat and Tasting were we will open our tasting to the public and engage in a lively conversation with our Tributees about some of their work and building our communities for a healthy tomorrow.
