Join us on Saturday, May 6 at 11:30 a.m. for our next class on Spice Route Cocktails, which will focus on Low ABV (Alcohol by Volume) cocktails. Perfect for spring, these cocktails are based on vermouth or lower-proof spirits and aperitifs rather than high-octane ones, which result in lighter, less-boozy and very flavorful cocktails.
The class will be led by Lo-Fi Aperitifs California Brand Ambassador, Chase Osthimer, who will be joined by DOSA’s Lead Bartender, Chris Lukens. Chase was part of the opening team at the beloved 15 Romolo and spent time behind the bar at many of San Francisco's most notorious establishments, including Rickhouse and Bourbon and Brand, and currently, serves as the assistant manager at Horsefeather. Lo-Fi Aperitifs are a line of vermouths and amaro crafted with California wines and natural herbs and botanicals and were created to be enjoyed on its own or used in a cocktail. The trend around Low ABV cocktails has been due to an increasing appreciation for the aperitif and because people want to enjoy a few cocktails that don’t have the same punch as a classic cocktail.
DOSA’s Spice Route Punch will be featured, which is a rotating, seasonal punch, along with additional cocktails made with Lo-Fi Sweet and Lo-Fi Dry Vermouth. The Lo-Fi Aperitifs show off the versatility of different vermouths and how they can be used to create unique low ABV cocktails.
The class is part of our ongoing series on Spice Route Cocktails, which we created for people to learn about the craft and brush up their skills. All of our cocktails are made with fresh, local, house-made ingredients. The 90-minute class will include:
An overview of Low ABV cocktails
Cocktail tastings and a welcome Spice Route punch
Hands-on instruction delving into the techniques of making proper low ABV cocktails, including cocktails made with Lo-Fi Sweet and Lo-Fi Dry Vermouth
Delicious assortment of South Indian plates
Tickets: $65 (all inclusive for cocktails, bites & the class)
