During the evening of the event we will be raising funds in memory of Heather Frank to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Tipping your bartenders is how the funds are raised. The goal is to showcase BAYPIEs bartending skills, have fun and raise money for a good cause in honor of Heather! This is an open event and the more people we have attending the better!
In 2015, Heather was a driving force in co-founding BAYPIE. Our goal was to connect professionals in the Bay Area with a passion for international education. Out of a spontaneous meet-up, we created a group that aims to increase opportunities for engagement and collaboration among IE professionals in the Bay Area. Our mission is to provide opportunities to connect and collaborate across professional sectors and pathways in international education, discuss emerging trends and issues, network, and develop leadership skills. In the three years Heather was an active member of BAYPIE, she passionately developed its goals and mission that were fueled by her own love of travel, culture and international exchange. Together we developed ideas for workshops and activities, and Heather was always eager to step in where help was needed. She was a fearless, yet humble leader, who always pushed us to just do it, and explore new avenues and try new things. She always had a smile on her face and shared what she had. BAYPIE wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for Heather. She will be missed by everyone in the group.
Heather became seriously ill past December and never recovered. She passed away on August 9th after succumbing to complications of Balo’s Disease, a rare neurological illness.
In lieu of flowers, Heather’s family asked for donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Heather’s memory. All tips from the guest bartending will be donated to the NMSS.
