The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) is seeking volunteers to collect water samples and field measurements at sites in watersheds that flow into the MBNMS during a one day event- Snapshot Day on May 3rd. Snapshot Day is the oldest and largest single-day, annual water-quality monitoring event of its kind in California. It is designed to provide a "snapshot" of regional water quality conditions and to provide resource managers with valuable information for reducing pollution. On Snapshot Day, hundreds of volunteers collect water quality samples from rivers and streams in California's coastal watersheds that drain into the Monterey Bay Sanctuary. Volunteers are needed in Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties. Trainings are not required but highly recommended. Training is 2 hours and will be offered in Monterey County from 11 am -1 pm April 26th at REI in Marina, in Santa Cruz County in the lower yacht harbor from 10 am - 12 pm on April 27th , in San Mateo County at the San Gregorio General Store from 6 pm- 8 pm on April 28th and in San Luis Obispo County at the Coastal Discovery Center from 5:30- 7:30 on April 29th.
