In the past, Smack Dab's taken June off, but this year, we're doing it!
Open mic signup starts at 7:30
At Magnet, your neighborhood queer health center.
Accessible Venue.
Our monthly open mic night, Smack Dab, is all ages, all genders, all
the time, and free.
Our June 18 feature is Blackberri
Bio:
Blackberri is an amazing artist. He has a lot of talent to share.
Blackberri grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He was openly gay from a young age. His mother embraced him and accepted him for who he was. Blackberri was the first black singer/songwriter to perform on KQED in a program celebrating gay music. His pioneering gay song "When will the ignorance end? was chosen as the theme for the very 1st Third World Gay and Lesbian Conference. He recently celebrated his 10th anniversary of his induction into the Smithsonian Institute Folkways Recordings.
This will definitely be a night to remember. Please come out and join us!
If you'd like to perform at the open mic, please come beginning at 7:30pm and bring five minutes of whatever you want to share.
Musicians: one song. Prose writers: that's about two and a half double spaced pages of prose. We're the friendliest open mic you'll find but we pay attention to time.
