Hiyu is a 30 acre natural farm headed by Nate Ready and his partners, China Tresemer and Geoff Burke, located in Oregon’s Hood River Valley. The farm not only cultivates vines, but also raises animals, gardens, and cooks farm to table food to create a true sense of place. Biodynamic principles are implemented throughout the farm, with vines rooted in silt loam over basalt soils. Vineyards are situated just 22 miles from Mt. Hood, deeply influenced by the mountain’s weather patterns. Hiyu derives its name from the word for ‘big party’ or ‘abundance’ in the pidgin trade language used by the Chinook people. 1100 cases of wine are produced annually.
