Showga (live music + yoga) feat. Brian Tester

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Showga takes place twice a week at Starline Social Club: Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm, plus Saturdays 12-1pm. It is a yoga class with live music performed by different artists each week. The spring resident music partners for Wednesday nights are:Protoghost & Friends: 4/5, 5/3, and 6/7
Golden Gram: 4/12, 5/10, and 6/14
Cellista: 4/19, 5/17, and 6/21
Brian Tester: 4/26, 5/24, and 6/28
We are pleased to announce Brian Tester as our musical guest for this week! Brian Tester has been involved in music and art-focused work and collaboration since the late 1990s, first in Minneapolis, MN, and since 2003 in Oakland, CA. He brings a focus on sonic detail, left field allusion, technologic fluidity, and an intuitive grasp of improvisation to each musical project in which he has participated. Besides solo appearances, he has performed in a wide assortment of groups and projects, including Spaceburn, Soft Shells, Hits, Ruby Pins, Triangle, Axolotl, Jealousy, WOE, and others. He has engineered, mixed, or mastered a surprising variety of Bay Area and Midwest music.

We have a limited number of mats available to borrow, so bring a yoga mat if you have one!Showga is not a normal show or a normal yoga class, but promises to be a rad fusion of the 2. All levels welcome. Showga is an event series about healing through movement and creative expression that incorporates yoga instruction, live music performances from a diverse range of artists, and a variety of additional empowering practices.During the 60 minute event there will be live music performed while participants are guided through yoga postures and visualization exercises. Each Showga event will feature a different band or artist and there will be occasional guest instructors.Showga is an opportunity to explore the healing dimensions of movement and music and how they interact. Both movement and music are strong and exciting tools for personal empowerment, whether we are creating, consuming, offering, experimenting, or performing.
