Shotgun Players presents 'Yellow Face'

at The Ashby Stage (8:00 PM)
May 10 - June 8 || Wed & Thurs - 7PM | Fri & Sat - 8PM | Sun - 2PM | ASL Interpreted Performance - May 28

Shotgun Players proudly presents David Henry Hwang's award-winning satirical play Yellow Face, running May 10 to June 8, 2025, at the Ashby Stage. Directed by Daniel J. Eslick and inspired by real-life events, this hilarious, poignant and personal exploration of race, identity, and representation, follows Hwang's semi-autobiographical protagonist, DHH, as he inadvertently casts a white actor in the role of an Asian character while-ironically-attempting to combat racial misrepresentation in the media. What unfolds thereafter is a sharp-witted, self-aware comedy that flirts with hypocrisy, challenges assumptions, and invites audiences to confront the complexities of identity politics in America.

Yellow Face is a hilarious, poignant and personal exploration of race, identity, and representation, challenges and entertains audiences with its humor and relevance. Since its premiere in 2007, Yellow Face has been lauded for its daring humor and social critique, winning an Obie Award for Playwriting and earning a Pulitzer Prize nomination. Shotgun Players' production continues the theater's tradition of staging bold, thought-provoking works that challenge audiences to engage with pressing cultural issues.

Sliding Scale $40 - $80.
