Mount Diablo's two peaks rise above us as we climb Shell Ridge via a gentle switchback, hike that ridge and the next, then descend and complete our loop via the shady, tranquil Indian Creek trail. The loop includes easy, moderate, and slightly strenuous stretches in approximately equal portions. We'll climb Shell Ridge itself via a gentle switchback, hike the ridge top for a bit, then descend and complete our loop via the shady, tranquil Indian Creek trail; alternatively, we'll add the adjacent second ridge to our hike. If we choose the shorter route, we might be finished with our hike by noon.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.
Due to COVID-19, we are limiting the hike to 8 participants. All participants must bring a mask and stay 6ft apart. Hand sanitizer will be available at the hike.
