Join NOAA's Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and Shark Stewards for SharktoberFest 2017! It's FREE!
WHAT: SharktoberFest 2017 celebrates the return of large white sharks (aka great whites) to feed in Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary. This annual event is a salute to a magnificent apex predator, the white shark, and other sharks who live in our sanctuary!
The sanctuary's abundant seals and sea lions attract them here each fall, and the sharks concentrate their hunt near the Farallon Islands. This white shark population is unique worldwide, as it's comprised of adults and sub-adults - the experience "wise survivors" - and expert hunters. And you can celebrate the ways in which the sanctuary protects white sharks through its White Shark Stewardship Project. See
