Sharing the Nordic Experience – Creativity, Innovation and Equality

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Nordic countries are established global leaders with regards to gender equality, healthcare, innovation, environmental stewardship and education. The World Economic Forum’s 2016 Global Gender Gap Report ranked Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden as the top four countries for gender equality. And according to the European Commission report, 94% of Finns, 90% of Swedes and 87% of Danes are satisfied with their healthcare. The Global Innovation Index also ranked Sweden the second most innovative economy last year, with the other Nordics solidly and consistently in the top 25. What explains these impressive figures?

Finnish Ambassador to the U.S., Ms. Kirsti Kauppi, Ambassador András Simonyi of the Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Transatlantic Relations, and Norway’s Consul General, Ambassador Hilde Janne Skorpen, will take us on a journey through the Nordic region. They will share insights about their successes where many other OECD nations have struggled, and candidly talk about the challenges that lie ahead. They will also discuss current transatlantic relations from a Northern European perspective.
