SFPRG 30th Annual March Workshop on Control Mastery Theory
Week long Conferene:
Plan Formulation: Understanding How Trauma is Internalized and Mastered
Tues, 3/6- Fri. 3/9 9:30 AM- 3PM
18 CE credits availble
Over the past several decades, SFPRG has developed an empirically derived method of case formulation-- the Plan Formulation Method (PFM) -- that serves as a useful guide for therapeutic responsiveness.
The PFM provides a reliable framework for understanding a patient’s conscious and unconscious goals, the pathogenic beliefs or schemas that prevent the patient from pursuing goals, traumatic experiences that contributed to the development of pathogenic beliefs, and how the therapist can optimize responsiveness to the patient’s problems, needs, and goals.
There is research evidence suggesting that therapists who are trained in PFM and use the formulation to guide their interventions are more responsive to their patients and achieve superior therapeutic results.
Workshop participants will receive intensive training in the PFM. The four weekday classes (Tuesday through Friday) include a 2 ½ hour morning session and a 2 hour afternoon session in which the PFM will be taught, illustrated with clinical material, and then applied to participants’ own cases. After completing the workshop participants will be able to apply the PFM to their clinical work and to their teaching and supervision.
Saturday Conference:
Mastering Truama Through Art: Lessons from Artists
March 10, 2018 9AM-4PM

In this conference we expolore how five notable artists worked to mater their traumatic experiences: Ferdinand Hodler, Rene Magritte, Tououse-Lautrec, Edvard Munch, and Mark O'Brien.
NOTE: Continuing education credit for all mental health professionals (MD, PhD, LCSW, MFT, etc) is provided by the SF Center for Psychoanalysis, our co-sponsor. A total of 24 CE credits are provided for the entire workshop (Tuesday through Saturday) for a fee of $200. If you would like to sign up for CE credits please check the box below. SFCP will bill you directly after the conference and then send the CE certificate.
