On April 17th, 12:00 pm PST, SFCDUG welcomes Mateusz Zwierzycki and Emmett Cruey. This month's meeting will be hosted at the AIA 130 Sutter St # 600, San Francisco, CA 94104.
Feature Presentation: Object: Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning Framework for Architects
In this presentation Mateusz Zwierzycki will sprint through his experiences with parametric modeling, coding and machine learning. He will showcase his past and present works and discuss the current state of AI in design. A live demonstration of Owl and its capabilities will top the lecture. Mateusz if the founder of Object is a company providing services and products based on parametric modeling, design workflow management, digital fabrication and machine learning. The spectrum of Object spans from Design and Consultancy through Education, Software and Research.
Here some of the examples of his work
Object
DesignMorphine Workshop 2017 Encoded Memories
Speaker
Mateusz Zwierzycki is a Research Assistant at BTU (Cottbus), where he is involved into AI research. Previously he worked at CITA (Copenhagen) on such projects as Complex Modelling, flora robotica and DuraArk. His research interests focus on machine learning, architectural geometry and generative algorithms. Mateusz was a tutor of many international (Poland, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Germany, Denmark, USA, UAE) programming workshops and courses. Author of the Starling, Anemone, Volvox, Squid, Owl plugins for Grasshopper and many more scripts scattered all over the Grasshopper community. Collaborated on various projects with companies such as zieta prozessdesign and Joris Laarman Lab, where he applied his digital modelling, programming and simulation skills. Currently runs Object - computational design consultancy.
Featured Presentation: ConnectedBIM.io - Who are we? (first half) What is our approach with dynamo? Python?
Emmett Cruey started a computational design consulting company in August, ConnectedBIM.io. Emmett Cruey has spent most of his time to this point developing an arsenal of tools for framing automation of prefabricated panel systems. Emmett Cruey will present his new package for Dynamo. Emmett Cruey has built a suite of framing and Integrated systems automation tools for Revit with a focus on Pre-fabricated Panels.
Speaker
Emmett Cruey, a motivated BIM and Design technology expert and entrepreneur. Starting off as a drafter then cad manager for a Structural Consulting Firm in 2005 and staying there for 13 years, Emmett grew with the industry. Learning through work experience, forums, peer networks, and conferences. Spending days at the office drafting in cad and nights at home learning to build parametric families in Revit. After moving on to work for various companies including 2 years as the Buildings BIM Manager for Arup San Francisco he was introduced to Dynamo and was instantly hooked. Spending the next two and a half years learning everything he could about BIM Technology, computational design, and programming in general. Attending conferences, online classes, forums, and networking and meeting a lot of amazing people along the way. Eventually growing tired of going against the grain advocating technology and connected data along with a passionate desire to create something Emmett started ConnectedBIM.io in the late summer of 2018. With a high level of focus on framing automation and prefabrication, ConnectedBIM.io offers consulting, parametric content, automation tools for a variety of workflows and disciplines. We specialize in Framing Automation, Integrated BIM workflows, and automation tools for Revit.
