SF Swappers January Food Swap!

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Schedule:
3 - 4 pm   Check-in, set up, potluck and mingling
4 - 4:30 pm   Swapping

It takes time to set up your swap items. Enjoying the potluck and conversation with your fellow swappers before the action begins is an integral part of the event!

If you arrive later than 3:30 pm, you risk being unable to participate in the food swap.

The scoop:
We welcome everyone from hobbyists to chefs with professional experience (who we encourage to use the food swap as a platform to branch out) and are excited to meet each and every one of you!

Please bring your best potluck offerings to share.

For swapping, appropriate items include home canned foods, jams, chutneys, oils, syrups, infused liquors, baked goods, candies, pickles, homegrown edibles, fresh eggs, honey from your hives and more... If you made it, grew it, harvested it, or foraged for it and it's edible, you can trade it! We suggest portion sizes between 4–16 oz, depending on the cost of the materials involved.

How does the swapping work? All you need to do is bring 5-10 items (though some people bring more, some less), which can range from a jar of last season's jam to a loaf of bread you baked that day. The swapping itself is a friendly and casual barter transaction based on bids. You will make in-kind trades with other swappers and leave with tasty new treats for your larder. We suggest bringing extra for samples, and while packaging and presentation is wholly up to the individual, recycled containers are encouraged.

We request that all swappers label all their items with the following info – whether you do this on a simple laser printer label or a cute handmade tag is up to you.

Name of Item – Clearly label what it is!
How to store item – Is it for the fridge or the pantry? Even though this is included on the swap sheet, it can be easy to miss or forget this during the excitement of the swap, so please mark on the item itself
Your Name - So recipients know who made it
Your Email - So recipients can contact you directly if they have questions on how to store or use it, want the recipe, or just want to tell you how much they've enjoyed it
Date - (optional) The date you made it or use by date is useful

If you have additional questions, contact us at [email protected].

- Hima

P.S. Please let us know if you cannot make it even though you registered, that way we can open up the spots to others. Thanks!
