The San Francisco Greek Film Festival celebrates its 15th year presenting 24 feature-length films and shorts by Greek and Cypriot filmmakers from around the world. From October 12-20, 2018, screenings run nightly at 7 p.m. at venues around San Francisco. All movies will have English subtitles. Manoussos Manoussakis, one of Greece’s preeminent filmmakers, will serve as this year’s artist-in-residence, facilitating Q&As, giving lectures, and providing context for the films throughout the week. The San Francisco Greek Film Festival is the longest-running film festival in the United States to feature contemporary Greek and Cypriot cinema.
Opening Night will take place at Lucasfilm’s Premier Theater in the historic Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco’s Presidio. The evening will feature a screening of “The Last Note.” Director and Greek film master Pantelis Voulgaris is scheduled to be present to conduct a Q&A after the screening. The festival will present Mr. Voulgaris with the Honorary Astron Award to honor his tremendous legacy in Greek cinema. Come early to mingle with the director, as well as producer Yiannis Iakovidis and writer Ioanna Karystiani.
There is a limited amount of paid parking in the garage. Taking public transportation or a taxi is strongly encouraged. Please allow enough time to arrive and enjoy the venue before the movie starts. Tickets will likely sell out, so purchase your tickets in advance: grfilm.com
