JOIN THE AUTHORS of the SF Guide, Walking San Francisco's 49 Mile Scenic Drive, for a 2-mile hike along a section of the 49 Mile Scenic Drive:
Walk #14 (of 17 Walks): Dolores Street
For 80 years SF's 49 Mile Scenic Drive has directed tourists and locals alike around the Best of SF—and outerlying areas. Now it's SF's new walking adventure. Come join the fun—WALK the Drive.
Walk #14 takes us along the calm elegant edge of the City's founding neighborhood, the Mission. We'll walk the length of its grand undulating boulevard, up and down the hills of Dolores Street—passed Mission Dolores, Dolores Park, and the golden fire hydrant that saved the nighborhood during the 1906 quake and fire—to Cesar Chavez Street. With some lesson in Victorian architecture thrown in. (HINT: if you have the book read the primer on pg 184 first)
As we walk by it all, the authors will share a few tidbits of the most-likely-true history and fun factoids we discovered while researching the guidebook.
FREE. Gratuities appreciated.
ENDS: Mission St at Cesar Chavez. Take off for your own adventure or walk back with us along the vibrant commercial corridors of Mission and Valencia Streets
Difficulty: hilly ups and downs (3 out of 5 hill steepness rating).
Well-behaved children and doggies welcomed
Books available for purchase and autographing at event or walksf49.com
NEW: 49 Mile seagull street signs available at event or walksf49.com
(If RAIN, or some act of God, cancels the walk, we'll inform attendees via email.)
