SESTA/FOSTA Die-In Protest at the CA State Democratic Convention!

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Gary Ridgway killed 71 Sex Workers. But the CraigList Killer only killed one because internet left a trail. On March 21st, 2018, that trail was destroyed by a Bill called “SESTA / FOSTA”. It was presented to the public as an “Anti-Sex Trafficking Bill”. But the truth is, not only doesn’t this bill help people who are trafficked, it actually makes it worse

Prior to SESTA / FOSTA, internet and social media platforms were not legally responsible for the content generated by their users. Now, they are. So companies like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and so on, have reacted by deleting the accounts of anyone even suspected of being a sex worker for fear of being prosecuted as “Sex Traffickers”

This has not just had a chilling effect on Sex Workers, but on Educators, Activists and Artists too. In deleting us, they don’t just bar us from participating in the modern world; but they also delete our history and our connections to our communities.

Forcing Sex Workers off the internet only makes it harder for Law Enforcement to find victims and prosecute traffickers, because it forces sex workers back onto the streets; into the hands of the very predators this bill is supposed to stop.

Join us on June 1st for a visual demonstration of what SESTA / FOSTA is doing to the Sex Workers - KILLING US! We invite you to Dress as “Dead Hooker” or any kind of pre-internet sex worker for a “Die In” California State Democratic Convention.

Suggested Attire: 1970’s Street Walker, 1980s Porn Star, Traditional Dominatrix, 1990’s Stripper, Prostitute Killed by Jack the Ripper or any Sex Worker that was killed by a serial killer. There have been many.
