Serge Gay Jr. "P.S. I Love You" Opening Reception

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us for the Opening Reception of "P.S. I Love You," an exhibition featuring work by Serge Gay Jr. on October 11, 6-10PM at Voss Gallery.
About this Event
Voss Gallery is proud to present "P.S. I Love You," a solo exhibition of graphic realistic paintings by San Francisco-based artist Serge Gay Jr. that lightheartedly depicts the captivating and carefree nature of Palm Springs, a desert resort city in Riverside County, CA.

The exhibition opens on Friday, October 11, 6-10PM and runs through Saturday, November 2, 2019. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-6PM or by appointment. Voss Gallery programming is free and open to the public.

Composed as a love letter to Palm Springs, "P.S. I Love You" captures the artist's fondness for the iconic destination lodged in the stylish Mid-Century Modern design. Popularized in the 1930s as a fashionable getaway for the Hollywood elite, the human-built utopia has become a haven for creatives lured to the vast desert as an artistic escape and source for inspiration. The open and elemental landscape serves as a limitless canvas to project fantasies onto. Illustrating the surreal and alluring nature of the oasis, Gay Jr. surrounds saturated scenes of leisure with monochromatic dreamlike markings in admiration for a city notorious for nurturing self-expression.

"Palm Springs inspires me to be creative in every way. In all its glory, I want to celebrate this beautiful place that I love. This is the story of how the city-which I consider to be a work of art and world treasure-makes me feel." -Serge Gay Jr.
