The Buddhist Art & Book Fair, a Jodo Shinshu Center 10th anniversary commemorative event, offers breath-taking, meditative paintings, inspiring guest speakers and a unique selection of Pure Land Buddhist books, altar objects and gifts to browse and purchase at the BCA Bookstore. Seeing the Wisdom of Compassion: The Art and Science of the Heart Sutra. Gallery hours.
• Lecture by Dr. Paula Arai: Sat. June 25, 11 am
This encore exhibition of Buddhist devotional paintings by the late biologist-turned painter, Tsuneo Iwasaki returns to the Jodo Shinshu after its exclusive West Coast premiere this past January. The accompanying lecture is presented by curator, Dr. Paula Arai. renowned author, speaker and professor of Buddhist Studies who worked closely with Iwasaki while researching his paintings which "illustrate the liberative power of the Heart Sutra."

The Other Buddhism: Amida Comes West & Other Works –

Caroline Brazier is a founder of Tariki Trust in the UK, a Buddhist organization concerned with applying Buddhism in the world, particularly in psychotherapy, chaplaincy, the arts and the environment. Her books and writings include: The Other Buddhism: Amida Comes West; and Buddhist Psychology.
