Nobody ever tells you this, but looking for a job is a full-time job. Even when you know exactly what you’re looking for, job boards can be overwhelming and recruiting events even worse. Not to mention, most of us are forced to look for jobs when we still have a job; minimizing the time we have to apply to different positions and prepare for various types of interviews.
Come join GIT SF Managing Director, Lauren Feldman, in a workshop on How to Search for, Apply to and Negotiate your next job.
Part 1: Search!
Choosing or changing a career path can be a bewildering and anxiety-riddled roller coaster. It's easy to fall into the trap of applying to the wrong jobs, taking an offer to impress someone or just staying where you are out of fear and uncertainty. Recruiters are helpful if you know what you're looking for, but they are seeking the right candidate, they're not helping you search for the right job. A subtle but distinct difference. At this event, you'll be given tools and strategies for deciding what kind of job and what kind of company are right for you.
Part 2: Apply!
Lauren will share strategies for organizing your applications, reaching out to the right people and nailing the interviews. Get ready to get your hands dirty with resume optimizations, tricks for a stand-out cover letter and ways to navigate any interview, from first round screening to final round presentations.
Part 3: Negotiate!
Walk away with key strategies on how to negotiate your next offer - hint: there's more to compensation than your salary. Whether you're applying to an early stage startup or large public company, you'll leave this bootamp with the tools to get what you're worth (and probably more).
