SciComm Studio 005: Hashtag Science

SEE EVENT DETAILS
More than half of all online users use social media to learn about breaking news. How can scientists and communicators tap the power of social media to cut through the clutter and tell their stories? As social media transforms the way the public consumes news, science communicators have an exciting opportunity to effectively and memorably spread their message. At this month’s SciComm Studio, we will hear from mobile app developers and social media strategists on how to best get messages across online. First, we’ll learn from the founders of Humbot, a mobile app designed to help the public understand scientific concepts through bite-sized content. Then, we’ll hear from the Director of Social Media for UC Berkeley, who is taking a bottom-up approach to connecting students and scientists with their communities.
