SB1000: Planning for Environmental Justice and Healthy Communities

Please join the Air District (BAAQMD), Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and the Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR) along with other state, regional and local partners for this special Planning Innovations forum.
This event will review the key legislative requirements of SB1000; walk-through how qualification is determined, and present early adopters along with best practices for each policy area as well as specific tools for implementation.
SB1000 Background
In 2016, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 1000 requiring cities and counties that have disadvantaged communities to incorporate environmental justice (EJ) policies into their General Plans, either in a separate EJ element or by integrating related goals, policies, and objectives throughout the other elements. This update must happen upon the adoption or next revision of two or more elements concurrently on or after January 1, 2018.
