In his latest production STePz, SAVION GLOVER and his ensemble of dancers, The HooFeRzCLub, pays homage to tap legends such as Gregory Hines, Sammy Davis Jr., and Bill Robinson with his particular brand of energetic urban tap. Performing on amplified platforms and on double sided staircases to music by John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Shostakovich, Glover and his dancers give an electrifying performance that keeps audiences mesmerized for the entire 100 minute show. This production exposes Glover’s capability of all complexities of jazz phrasing, both bass line and melody, the wild improvisations, structures and deconstruction, from departure to return.
