Saving the Redwoods – A Hundred Years of Preserving California’s Iconic Forests

For more than one hundred years, dedicated residents have toiled and advocated to preserve one of earth's greatest treasures - the redwood and sequoia forests of California - among the largest and most ancient forms of life on the planet. Come join the California Historical Society to hear unique, behind-the-scenes stories about the people and events that have led to California being at the forefront of saving these magnificent trees. Sam Hodder, President and CEO of Save the Redwoods League, and authors Laura and James Wasserman, will share perspectives and presentations. Available will be copies of the stunning Heyday Books-Save the Redwoods League publication, "The Once and Future Forest: California's Iconic Redwoods," a coffee table anthology of essays, artwork, and photographs with an Introduction by Sam Hodder. Also available "Who Saved the Redwoods? The Unsung Heroines of the 1920s Who Fought for our Redwood Forests," a history by Laura and James Wasserman.
