The sixth annual San Jose International Short Film Festival opens this Thursday at Santana Row in San Jose. The festival will feature 14 short films, ranging widely in style and subject matter. There are animated shorts, a few sci-fi and post-apocalyptic films, some drama and a spoof western in which the protagonist can hear the narrator. The festival will also feature talks with the filmmakers and other panels, food, drink and entertainment. Though many of the films feature marquee-name actors, the people behind the shorts come from all over. Festival founders, Bill Hargreaves and Sinohui Hinojosa say they want to attract filmmakers who are utilizing the latest technology to make great, independent films outside of Hollywood’s studio system.
