Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Francisco SailGP event scheduled for May 2-3 has been canceled.
SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said: "We are of course disappointed to cancel our event scheduled for May 2-3 in San Francisco. This decision has been made to avoid increasing the already significant risk of COVID-19. Health and safety must be the top priority across the world during this unprecedented situation and it is our responsibility to ensure we do not further the spread of this pandemic."
All options are being explored in order to maintain a full schedule for SailGP's second season. Further announcements will be made in due course.
Ticket purchasers for the canceled event will be automatically refunded in full no later than May 2.

In late April, eyes will start peering out toward The Bay as racing teams begin to practice for the start of San Francisco SailGP. Led by Sir Russell Coutts and Larry Ellison (Oracle), SailGP is a series of races in cities around the world. And San Francisco is lucky enough to be one of the host cities. The races showcase the beauty, technology and excitement of sailing; reminiscent of the 2013 America's Cup, when thousands of people lined the shoreline to get a firsthand glance at the epic sailing out in the water.
Returning team members Rome Kirby, Taylor Canfield, Riley Gibbs and Hans Henken, will be joined by Scott Ewing, Ben Bardwell, Victor Diaz de Leon and Peter Kinney.
SailGP is sailing redefined. The fan-centric, inshore racing takes place in some of the most iconic harbors around the globe and culminates with a $1 million winner-takes-all match race. Rival national teams battle it out in identical supercharged F50 catamarans, engineered for intense racing at speeds exceeding 50 knots (nearly 60 mph/100 kph).
Race Info: SailGP loops around the waters off Fisherman's Warf, from Pier 39, out to Crissy Field.
