San Francisco Homelessness Datathon - Sept 18th [Volunteer Opportunity]

SEE EVENT DETAILS
We, Sheltertech, are creating an online directory resource (think Yelp!) to help the underserved community in San Francisco gaining information on accessible basic amenities (i.e food, shelter, shower). One of the regular public events/workshops we held is Datathon, which is an opportunity for you to work side-by-side with community representatives - people who are currently or have previously been homeless - to verify and vet information and make sure the 500+ services in our system is correct.
As a non-profit, we rely heavily on the power of our community (that is you!) and hence we would like to invite people like you to join our cause in making a lasting impact to help the underserved community in San Francisco! We have welcomed volunteers from a wide range of experience & passion for our cause! So, whether you are simply looking to meet new people or to learn more about the struggles faced by the homeless community, this event would be a great experience for you!

What will you do at this "Datathon"?
During this Datathon, you'll work side-by-side with Community Representatives -- people who are currently or have previously been homeless -- to verify information and make sure the 500+ services in our system are correct. Plus you get to meet new like-minded people (fellow volunteers and sheltertech team members) and there will be free food and drinks!

More about ShelterTech
ShelterTech is a non-profit organisation founded by former homeless Darcel Jackson that develops digital solutions for homeless and underserved communities.
As he was experiencing homelessness, Darcel Jackson realized he had access to a smartphone but found that getting info about services available for people experiencing homelessness was extremely difficult - there were no products designed for the homeless. So he gathered a team of volunteers to build it!
ShelterTech team aims to build the most reliable, up-to-date online database of services available to homeless and underserved communities in San Francisco.
