SAN FRANCISCO DESIGN WEEK returns to Pier 27 this year with the Start Here: Pledge. Join the Opening Night Reception, followed by a day of programming at the Design Hub, and a week of regional events.
Experience a designer's life through interactive exhibits, installations and talks. Enjoy contemporary music and dance performance by Cali&Co, food trucks by Off the Grid, and beer by Fort Point Brewery. Highlights include the 2018 Design Awards, Britelite Immersive's "Philanthropost" storytelling sculpture, talks & installations by Future Foods, IDEO Co. Lab about Blockchain, Stanford's D School & artist installations featuring social responsibility by Brian Singer, Purin Phanichphant & Chloe Bensahel.
Rest Of The Week: Over 200 events across the San Francisco Bay Area will be offered from Silicon Valley to San Francisco, promoting ideas from more than 60 partners, representing the heart of San Francisco's design community. These immersive events allow design aficionados to experience a designer's life first-hand: neighborhood bike tours, interactive food & design workshops, film screenings, open studios & artist installations, urban farms & gardens, fashion studios, and designer-maker talks and book-signings.
Highlights include: a wine & tea-tasting with TEALEAVES x Rudd Oakville Estates; ikebana demonstrations by Journal Building Artists at Avenue SF; "Nature Talk" and book-signing by Erica Tanov at Heath Ceramics with preserve-maker June Taylor and Remodelista Co-Founder Sarah Lonsdale; Mission Bicycle 'Design Cycle' Ride followed by an after-party & bike raffle; Octavia Boulevard Block Party & Artist's light sculpture by Charlie Gadekan; two nights of Studio Crawls through SF neighborhood design hot spots; a kitchen science lab by leading food designer-researcher from Google X; and Slow Food SF at ParkLab Gardens panel discussion about urban farming and the future; or Brit + Co's watercolor brush lettering workshop.
