As ground water use continues to increase and water tables fall, naturally occurring contaminants are surfacing at an alarming pace. Today, 85% of rural India is entirely dependent on groundwater for drinking and it is estimated that over a 100 million rural users are at risk of exposure to contaminants like arsenic and fluoride. Exposure to such contaminants causes severe physical deformities and even death by slow poisoning.SAFEBillion is a collaborative initiative looking to solve this problem at scale across the world, starting with India. In the first phase we are looking at bring to market two new revolutionary technologies developed by Prof. Ashok Gadgil and his team at UC Berkeley, to address drinking water issues in Arsenic & Fluoride affected communities.Sattva, one of the founding members of this mission, is organizing an introductory discussion on SAFEBillion on Thursday, October 25th, 2018 at the SFMOMA Artists Gallery, Landmark Bldg. A, Fort Mason, SAN FRANCISCO, CA and we would love to have you there to support, collaborate or just share your thoughts on this important issue.
