Riesling Week at Waterbar

WHAT: Waterbar, San FranciscoÂ’s foremost seafood restaurant, is hosting Riesling Week from February 28 to March 5. Beverage Director Steve Izzo, Sommelier Tommy Yracheta, and Chef de Cuisine Justin Baade have teamed up to create a cultivating menu to pair with delicious Rieslings, from the legendary regions of Austria, Germany, and Canada, to show the versatility of the glorious Riesling grape.

The four-course prix fixe menu will be available for dinner reservations before 8:30 p.m. and must be enjoyed by the entire table. The menu and wine pairing selections include:

• Spanish Red Prawn ceviche with hibiscus cucumber, coconut "leche de tigre," aji amarillo, and popcorn
o Wine pairing: 2014 Salomon Undhof "Estate" Riesling, Kremstal, Austria
• Tokyo style barbecued scallop with crab custard, asparagus, and crisp house cured ham
o Wine pairing: 2014 Dönnhoff Riesling Sätles, Oberhäuser Brücke, Nahe Germany
• Red curry braised lamb shoulder with grilled pea leaves, Carolina Gold Rice, and toasted peanuts
o Wine pairing: 2013 Selbach-Oster Riesling Kabinett, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Mosel, Germany
• Rhubarb Pie with St. Germain elderflower crème
o Wine pairing: 2014 Inniskillin Riesling Icewine, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario-Canada
