On November 9th, participate in an intimate conversation with Sylvia Charles, Founder of Spice Mama in San Francisco, which makes addictive chili sauces that combine a rich, Indian heritage with the beauty and freshness of clean California cooking.  Our curated evening will take place in a high-rise home* with panoramic views of San Francisco, where we will hear Sylvia's fascinating journey from her mother and aunt's aromatic kitchen growing up, to her own creations that seek to combine authentic Indian flavors with an application outside of traditional curries.
*Exact location details and directions will be sent via email confirmation closer to the event.
Curated Meal with a Story

Join us for a beautifully-curated meal by storyteller Sylvia Charles, which will feature a few of Spice Mama's signature spice blends such as a vibrant and tangy Sweet Chili Tamarind, her rich, earthy and fiery Zinging Ginger sauce, and the exotic Sweet Heat Cilantro blend.

About Our Storyteller - Sylvia Charles

Sylvia Charles, Founder of Spice Mama, grew up in a household where the kitchen was the center of their lives. Her immigrant mother and aunt rarely left, constantly creating aromatic curries and rice dishes every morning and overflowing the house with the sweet smells of cumin and coriander mixed with the sounds of laughter and joy.
It was here that Sylvia fell in love with the heart of Indian cooking- condiments that were gooey, sticky, sweet and spicy- stuffing herself with spicy mango chili sauce, chutneys, and even a chili pickle with dried shrimp. From there, she brought her love of Indian sauces everywhere she went- in college she would spread them on pizzas and bagels, and later, inspired by the abundance of fresh and organic local produce she was constantly surrounded by in California, she began to combine authentic Indian flavors with an application outside of traditional curries, experimenting with fresh market produce, lamb and pork, and spices her mom would bring from India.
