at Books Inc. in Burlingame (see times)
Representative Rosa L. DeLauro joins us at Books Inc. Burlingame in celebration of her impassioned book, The Least Among Us: Waging the Battle for the Vulnerable.

During more than 25 years in Congress, Rosa L. DeLauro has been – and continues to be – on the front lines of the most important battles to protect and strengthen the social safety net she believes represents our responsibility to one another to help each other in a time of need. Rosa lives in New Haven as the U.S. Representative from Connecticut’s Third District that stretches from New Haven, to the Naugatuck Valley and Waterbury. In Congress, she fights to protect and expand the social safety net to help families put food on the table, afford health care, earn decent wages (including equal pay for equal work), and retire in dignity. She has been widely recognized and applauded for her leadership role in stopping trade agreements that lower wages and push jobs overseas.
Joining Representative DeLauro for this special event will be Jackie Speier. Jackie Speier (pronounced SPEAR) represents California’s 14th Congressional District, which stretches from the southern portion of San Francisco through San Mateo County to Redwood City. She is a tireless advocate for women’s rights, the public good, and the security of Americans. She was named to Newsweek’s list of 150 “Fearless Women” in the world. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel and on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). Speier was also appointed as a Democratic member of the Select Committee that House Republicans have established to attack women’s heath. She agreed to serve on it in order to defend women’s health and hold the committee’s leadership accountable.
