Rena Bransten Projects

Arts , Gallery

Since its inception in 1974, the Rena Bransten Gallery has sought to define its artistic program by including, simultaneously, established and emerging artists. Originally focusing on ceramic sculpture by California artists, the physical gallery space and scope of exhibitions expanded to include contemporary paintings, sculpture, photography, media arts, video, installation, and conceptual work. Now, over thirty years later, the gallery continues to exhibit both national and international contemporary artists in one person and thematic exhibitions reflecting current art trends. In 2014, the gallery relocated from 77 Geary Street, where it had been located for 27 years, to a project-oriented space. Re-opening as Rena Bransten Projects, the focus of the program will shift to site-specific installations and explorations of non-traditional exhibition models.
