Epic romance, political intrigue, and outdoor theater come to Red Morton Park this August! The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival returns to Redwood City for three weekends, August 15-30, when its 44th season of Free Shakespeare in the Park brings Antony and Cleopatra.
Now celebrating 44 years of free, high-quality outdoor performances, SF Shakes invites audiences to enjoy a fresh re-imagining of Shakespeare's timeless stories in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
This year's production, Antony and Cleopatra, set against the backdrop of the Roman Empire and Egypt, explores the tension between duty and desire, and the powerful impact of personal relationships on political ambition. The heart of the drama lies in the powerful and intoxicating relationship between Mark Antony and Cleopatra - a bond that transcends borders yet threatens the very foundations of political order. Their love challenges loyalty, tests ambition, and reshapes the course of history.
Bring a picnic, gather your crew, and enjoy an unforgettable evening of outdoor theater under the summer sky!
