SEE EVENT DETAILS
at UCSF Memory and Aging Center Clinic (see times)
This is a VIRTUAL Event.
From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world's leader in providing help for today and hope for tomorrow for people with Huntington's disease and their families. HDSA's network of chapters, affiliates, HDSA Centers of Excellence, social workers and support groups provides a seamless connection for help, education and outreach to HD families and health care professionals across the United States.Huntington's disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person's physical and mental abilities usually during their prime working years and has no cure. 41K Americans have HD, with 200,000+ living at risk, and 10% of all cases are children with Juvenile HD.

The Affiliate is recruiting board members for the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) - San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate, a local San Francisco nonprofit. The Affiliate is looking for energetic individuals with management skills to implement yearly strategic plan to heighten the awareness of Huntington's disease through fundraisers, developing relationships with local business, identifying potential local sponsors, outreach to educate healthcare professionals, staff for education days and support groups, grant writing, working on social media campaigns and developing a yearly budget.

The Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington's disease (HD) & Juvenile HD. HDSA is 90% volunteer based and San Francisco Bay Area Affiliates is run by volunteers.

The Affiliate Board/Team's goals are to:

Build an HD community-service organization.

Support HD research and communicate its impact.

Remove barriers to quality care.

Serve as the premier communicator of HD information.

Grow volunteer involvement.

Operate in a fiscally responsible manner.

Increase revenue to grow organizational capacity.

To accomplish these goals we need volunteers to help with running fundraisers, reaching out to potential sponsors, staffing for education days and support groups, grant writing, working on social media campaigns, and offering support to the Affiliate Board.
