Giants Enterprises, the entrepreneurial arm of the San Francisco Giants dedicated to developing new ventures complementary to the Major League Baseball franchise, announced today that it will host a marquee soccer match at Oracle Park between Real Madrid CF and Club América on July 26, 2022. The match will be part of AEG's Inaugural Soccer Champions Tour, featuring five of the world's most iconic soccer clubs competing in top-tier matches in the span of only nine days across the western United States.
Participating clubs include current La Liga and 2022 UEFA Champions League winner Real Madrid CF, La Liga powerhouse FC Barcelona, Serie A's Juventus and Liga MX's Club América and Club Deportivo Guadalajara. In addition to San Francisco, host cities include Las Vegas, Dallas and Los Angeles. This tour marks the first return of play in the U.S. for Barcelona and Real Madrid since 2019 and for Juventus since 2018.
"We are thrilled to once again host an international soccer match at Oracle Park. The Bay Area is home to countless enthusiastic soccer fans and we look forward to welcoming these world-class athletes and iconic clubs to the home of the San Francisco Giants," said Stephen Revetria, President of Giants Enterprises.
Oracle Park hosted numerous international soccer matches featuring clubs from the Premier League, Serie A, MLS and Liga MX, as well as matchups headlined by Team USA, Japan, Iceland, Senegal and Mexico. The ballpark's field was last converted to a soccer pitch in 2013 for the International Champions Cup, showcasing Juventus FC and Everton FC.
"AEG is excited to launch this unparalleled soccer tour as five of the most exceptional soccer clubs in the world return to the United States this summer," said Tom Braun, AEG Senior Vice President of Soccer & Business Operations and Business Development. "Following several years without seeing some of these teams in the United States, we are thrilled to provide the opportunity for soccer fans in the U.S. to once again watch their favorite European and Mexican clubs play in person."
