Come on down to Bookshop Santa Cruz as they host a conversation between Ramon Resa, author of Out of the Fields, and Susan Samuels Drake. Resa spent much of his early life picking cotton, oranges, and grapes in California's Central Valley, yet still managed to complete medical school, later to return to his hometown and an open a pediatric office. Drake joined the UFW in 1962 at the age of 24, and later became Cesar Chavez's personal secretary, dedicating much of her life to the struggle of California's farmworkers.
