HOLY QUEER CODING BATMAN, THIS MOVIE IS QUEER AF!
Sorry, we had to slip into all caps for that one. Fans of Tim Burton's gothic noir Batman films experienced a bit of whiplash when director Joel Schumacher took the reigns of Gotham and revealed his dayglow vision for the not-so-dark-knight in 1995. Schumacher and his all-star cast of scenery-chewing heroes and villains lean hard into the high-camp shenanigans of the 1960s and '70s Batman stories with a distinctly '90s flair. When disgruntled Wayne Industries employee Edward Nigma aka The Riddler (Jim Carrey) teams up with deranged former district attorney Harvey Dent aka Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones), Batman aka Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer) is pushed to his limit. Luckily, he's supported by his new twinky thunky ward Dick Grayson aka Robin (Chris O'Donnell), and a new love interest straight from the Jessica Rabbit School For Girls, Dr. Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman). Y'all... I really can't emphasize enough how queer this movie is. We haven't even mentioned Drew Barrymore and Debi Mazar showing up as Two-Face's drag queen girlfriends. En Vogue has a cameo in this movie! It's all just so queer and so good! Surrender to the experience of Schumacher's vision and join us for this neon romp through the campiest corners of DC Comics.
