The stunning album, 'Tradition In Transition' , has brought this international cast of acclaimed musical creators fusing those rediscovered psychedelic, experimental and rhythmically rich sounds of the past with deep funk and soul elements, giving life to an explosive sonic snapshot of the eclectic and ever-evolving musical landscape of the Americas. Will Holland, a.k.a. Quantic, grew up in Worcestershire, England. His father was a Welsh-born folk singer. None of that is readily apparent in his music, however. He spent his early years obsessed with American funk and soul (and later electronic music). Then, in 2007, he moved to Colombia and blended all of those influences with cumbia and salsa. A man with diverse tastes and talents, Holland produces beats, splices tapes, plays the guitar, the accordion, sax and a bunch of other instruments. Now on his fourth Quantic record, he's found an interesting middle ground between driving, organic Latin dance music, American soul, and layered electronics. (Aaron Carnes)
