Public Works & Icee Hot Team up to bring you:
GIRL UNIT (Night Slugs)
+ Grown Folk (Icee Hot / Templar)
++ Icee Hot DJ's (Shawn Reynaldo & Rollie Fingers)
Main Room- Funktion One Sound
There are few producers from the UK's post-dubstep scene who have been as hugely influential as Girl Unit (a.k.a. Philip Gamble). Back in 2010, his debut IRL EP on Night Slugs literally changed the landscape of what would eventually come to be known as "bass music," and became the benchmark of a sound that has since spawned countless imitators. With each subsequent release on Night Slugs (including the mega-anthem "Wut", and last year's excellent Club Rez EP), as well as numerous remixes, Girl Unit has established himself as the gold standard of producers blending R&B and radio-friendly rap influences with underground, rave-ready speaker rattlers. He is also a badman behind the decks, and is sure to deliver a fresh set of new sounds at this, his first SF performance in nearly two years.
Montreal-based duo Grown Folk are relative newcomers to the scene, but have quickly made quite the impression with releases on Silverback, Templar Sound, Young Adults, and SF's own ICEE HOT label. In addition to their dreamy, melodic house sound, the Folks also dabble in rap production, crafting similarly epic and gauzy tracks for Oakland rappers Main Attrakionz. These guys never, ever stop making tracks, so expect a plethora of previously unheard original productions in their SF club debut.
Support from ICEE HOT resident DJs Rollie Fingers and Shawn Reynaldo.
