January is the 5th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Citizens United vs. FEC ruling, allowing corporations to give unlimited amounts of money to election campaigns through independently-formed groups. PASMC will screen the documentary film "Pay 2 Play: Democracy's High Stakes".
The film tells of the machinations that influence voting in not-so-ethical ways. It takes aim at the Koch Brothers and other wealthy influence-peddlers, as well as the politicians to whom they've "paid to play".
While mixing in some irreverence with this serious subject, "Pay 2 Play" includes the input of such activists as Noam Chomsky, Marianne Williamson and Van Jones. It also offers ways to push back.
