Pride! A Communi-tea Celebration

Celebrate Pride and support 826 Valencia's nonprofit programs through an event designed to open your heart.

You are cordially invited to Pride! A Communi-tea Celebration, hosted by the 826 Valencia Associate Board. This is a virtual event :-)

What to expect:

~ Warm welcome from 826 Valencia.

~ Discussion of the history of LGBTQ+ rights and the meaning of "PRIDE" with special guest Sister Roma, activist, fundraiser, entertainer and "The Most Photographed Nun In the World from San Francisco's infamous Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

~ Tea ceremony led by Darius Moghaddam, and featuring Numi Organic Tea, a B-Corp based in Oakland, California. Darius has been traveling the world studying the ancient art of tea for the past seventeen years. Each Eventbrite ticket comes with Numi's organic De-Stress Tea with kanna leaf, which has a calming, heart-opening effect.

~ Journaling session led by published poet, activist, educator, and 826 Valencia staffer Karla Brundage.

What to bring:

This event is virtual. Set up a peaceful space at home. Bring your favorite teacup, hot water, a pen and paper, and your heart. Look forward to seeing you there! Grab your tickets in advance to receive the Zoom link & Numi tea!

Why:

826 Valencia is a nonprofit that helps students from under-resourced communities in San Francisco to build writing skills and amplify their voices. This event will raise funds for 826 Valencia's free writing, tutoring and publishing programs -- proceeds will benefit our Mission, Tenderloin and Mission Bay Writing Centers as well as our in-school student programming, supporting teachers across the city with writing projects of all kinds.

Who:

We welcome all ages, races, ranges of abilities, sexual orientations, religions, gender identities, education levels, and political perspectives. You are all welcome and celebrated here
