PRESIDIO DIALOGUES – Thursday Evenings at 6 pm
Notable authors, artists, and conversation starters explore themes from ancient history to current events through interactive dialogues, stimulating talks, panels, performances, and films.
Painter, muralist, lithographer, designer and kite maker Tyrus Wong worked for decades in Hollywood as a film production illustrator for Disney and Warner Brothers, most notably as the lead artist on Disney's 1942 classic, Bambi. He was the subject of major retrospective exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, was named a Disney Legend, and featured in Pamela Tom’s award-winning documentary Tyrus (2015). He passed away in December 2016 at the age of 106.
Oscar-nominated writer-director Ronnie del Carmen (Pixar’s Inside Out) and filmmaker Pamela Tom celebrate the life and work of this inspirational artist through reminiscences, images, and film clips.
