Present Yourself: Craft Your First Talk and Deliver with Confidence (San Francisco)
Saturday & Sunday, 6/8/19 & 6/9/19, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

In this workshop, we’ll provide new speakers with the framework and confidence to craft their first talk. Taught by experienced speakers and storytellers, attendees will have the chance to draft and practice their talk and produce the documentation they may need to be selected to speak at a conference.
We recommend registering for both days but you can also sign up for Day 1 only. You must attend Day 1 in order to attend Day 2. You can also register for a ticket that includes a professional headshot. You'll have a 20-30 minute session with our professional photographer during the session, and receive 15 black and white and colored shots. Please reach out to us with any questions.

Day 1: Saturday, 6/8/19
Craft Your Talk
On Day 1, we'll start with an introduction to speaking at conferences and public events. We'll then go over how to craft a compelling talk using storytelling principles. Understand how to design your talk starting with your audience and leave with an outline of a 5-minute talk.

Day 2: Saturday, 6/9/19
Deliver with Confidence
Learn how to feel confident speaking on stage. You'll learn both how to prepare yourself before going on stage and what to do during your talk. You will have a lot of time to practice and get feedback. We'll end the day with final presentations. Your talk will be recorded so you have a video example, and you'll receive feedback from instructors and peers. If you opted for a headshot, you'll have your shoot on this day.

Please note: Pre-reading will be emailed to you prior to the workshop. Attendees should complete reading and come to class with a talk topic. Your homework between sessions will be to continue to work on your talk to be ready to present on Day 2.

You will leave the workshop with:

A framework for crafting a great talk
A draft of a 5-minute talk and resources on how to expand it depending on length of talk
A video of a 5-minute speaking example
Resources for continued reading and exploration
Professional headshot (optional)

Note: Crafting slides will not be covered in this workshop.

What past participants have said:
"This workshop has gotten me exponentially closer to a goal I have had for nearly a decade. I can't believe I am walking away with a solid concept, outline, headshot and new community of support. Thanks"
"I didn't think writing a compelling talk in 2 days would be possible, yet WTD helped me not only do that, but also helped me build the confidence to present it."
"A great immersive experience. This session was an excellent lab for me to workshop by speaking ideas and speaking skills"
