More About Magma:
Magma is an immersive dance theater experience inspired by the Greek myth of Cassandra, who was able to foretell the future but was cursed to have no one believe her visions. Told through an ominous, cinematic lens, Magma is a tragically intriguing, emotionally raw performance produced by Post:ballet and choreographed by Resident Choreographer Moscelyne ParkeHarrison. The production unfolds in one of San Francisco's premiere nightclub spaces, The Midway, and follows nine characters navigating their relationship to truth, ignorance, and entropy.
Magma is like watching a disaster in slow motion, unfolding in three chapters beginning with the dancers and audience members moving independently through The Midway. Guests decide where to go and what to see, ensuring that everyone's journey is unique and each visit is different. As the show progresses, dancers and audience members will interact throughout the venue until an event brings the entire audience, full cast of characters, and musical collaborator dj.ari.b together for the culmination of the production.
Join Post:ballet for a series of events in 2024 highlighting the making of Magma and featuring each chapter of the work before the evening-length premiere in January 2025.
