'Portal' a world premiere by RAWdance with TJPA's Salesforce Park

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at TJPA's Salesforce Park (see times)
Sept 3-5 at 7:30pm

Join RAWdance for the world premiere of "Portal", a free, site-specific live performance, which transforms the elevated garden of TJPA's Salesforce Park into a multimedia ecosystem animated by evocative movement and physical storytelling. Conceived and choreographed by Co-Artistic Director Katerina Wong with mixed media artist Ephraim Colbert, "Portal" investigates the intersections of skyscrapers and gardens, migration and stagnation, and belonging and isolation after an unprecedented year of collective challenge.

"Portal" - the first site-specific dance production ever presented at TJPA's Salesforce Park - will take audiences on a journey from one end of the public space to the other, illuminating the landscaping and architecture with lighting, video, sound scores, and dynamic movement by six stellar Bay Area dance artists. Rooted in our shared experiences during the pandemic, "Portal" offers a space to process and reflect as a community, reimagine our collective hopes and dreams, and recommit ourselves to a future of progress through imagination.

Audiences of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. No advance tickets or RSVP is required. Audiences will be asked to stand and mobilize throughout the Park for the majority of the one-hour long performance; there will be limited seating available for those who need it. City-mandated Covid protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of audiences and performers.

The performance features Claire Fisher, Jhia Jackson, ArVejon Jones, Nick Wagner, Juliann Witt, and Erin Yen.

"Portal" is supported by the San Francisco Arts Commission.

Free, no rsvp required.

Presented by RAWdance.
