About Hidalgo La GitanaBodegas Hidalgo La Gitana (The Gypsy) was founded in 1792 by Pantaleon Hidalgo in Sanlucar de Barrameda, Spain. Today it is one of the few wine companies owned and controlled by the family and run by the eighth generation in direct line of the founder.It is said that the La Gitana name was derived from the wine's popularity at a Malaga bar run by an attractive gypsy woman. However the name came to be, the wines are a beautiful expression of Sanlucar terroir.
