Claudia Anata Hubiak, Artistic Director and founder of The Anata Project presents world premiere, Point of Dissolve in the company's Fall Home Season at ODC's B'Way Theater October 19th, 20th and 21st at 8PM.
Point of Dissolve is a collection of studies by Claudia Anata Hubiak, addressing the continuum of effort and ease. This evening-length world premiere connects the spectrum of effort with the societal standard that working harder equates with greater self worth. With an original score by Ben Juodikalvis and Jonas Leuenberger, this quintet investigates the physical elements of precision and undoing through powerful partnering, quiet subtlety of gesture and spatial accumulations.
Through the task of weight-bearing and building tension Point of Dissolve explores exertion, and conversely how to actively cultivate ease. Do we have to drop everything to find relaxation? Where does balance lie, and how much effort is needed to maintain a structure that we can relax inside of? Point of Dissolve ultimately asks the question, How hard do we need to work to be enough?
